Craft- Pencil Holder

Today I decided to make a pencil holder to put on my desk. The thing I was using before to hold pencils etc was too impractical. It was this little storage thing that has three drawers. I didn't use it for that much. The first drawer held writing utensils and a few other odds and ends. The other two drawers had very few things in them. So that's why I decided to make a pencil holder that didn't take up lots of space.

What I was using before (It still has random odds and ends stuff that needs to be taken out.)


Now- I originally was making it from blue tissue paper and going with a "modge pog" effect, but then decided I didn't like it... So I did this instead. Which I like a lot more. Made with card stock paper, ribbon, buttons, part of pringles can, and tacky glue. Oh yeah, and tissue paper underneath. (But that's hidden and therefore doesn't count because I changed my mind on the look of it.)


I can't take all the credit. I did look up online how to best make a pencil holder. http://www.makingfriends.com/holder_pencil_pipecleaner.htm This site was a little helpful on deciding what to make the container out of.(Part of a Pringles can.) Other than that, I pretty much did my own thing.

Yes, I was bored but it gave me something to do. And it gave me a chance to be creative.

Mercy Me was one of the bands that I saw at SoulFest. (Still have to give a summary of that... maybe tomorrow.) I like this song. I would like to buy it someday on itunes.



Oh, and an update on last week's video post... I saw To Save A Life. Great movie with a good message. Everyone should see it. It is a Christian movie. But don't let that stop anyone from seeing it. The movie deals with many issues that teens may face.

Fall Semester

So I picked my classes today for the fall semester at MCC. This will be my second year going there. I am taking Earth Science, Creative Writing, College Algebra I, Sociology, US History- 1870 to present. My financial aid still has to go through. So hopefully everything will work out with that. Also the books are going to be expensive. Grr. Sociology alone needs three different books. :( Oh yeah, I am taking all five of these classes online... Let's see how that goes.

Summer Reading

So I have been out of school since May and yet have only read eight books. Hmmm, that's not too good. But, I suppose it's better than none. I enjoy reading. Especially when the book is really good.. Let's see the eight books that I have read so far are Kissing Frogs, Roommates Wanted, Shutter Island, The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud, PS I Love You, Agnes and the Hitman, House Rules, and In a Heartbeat. (Meana, have you read House Rules? It's by Jodie Picoult.)

The next book I am going to read is Under the Dome by Stephen King. I also have a few other library books lying around that I might read.

I like when books are turned into movies. Shutter Island, The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud, and PS I Love You have all been made into movies. It's interesting to see what they change and what they keep the same when you compare a book to the movie. I was sorta disappointed though because I had read Shutter Island before I saw the movie so I was aware of what was going to happen and there were no surprises. The book and movie were still good though. The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud was an ok read. I really want to see the movie. It looks pretty good. PS I Love You was a bittersweet book/movie.

Sometimes it can be annoying when they add things to the movie that weren't in the book or take things out. In a way, books leave more to the imagination... You can picture the characters in your head a certain way. Whereas when a certain actor/actress plays the character, that might not be the way you pictured them to look,etc. What do you think? Is the book usually better than the movie version?

For me, I guess it would depend on the book/movie. Take A Walk To Remember for example. I thought that the movie seems better than the book because it's more from a time period that was closer to me than the in the book. That is just one of the reasons. I was trying to think of a book that was better than a movie, not getting that far with that right now. I'm sure there's a bunch though.

Anyone have any suggestions of books that I should read? Or any good movies that you think I might like? Please leave a comment if you think of any, thanks in advance. :)

Giving Back

So I recently read a book Called In a Heartbeat- Sharing the Power of Cheerful Giving. I actually finished it a couple hours ago. Good book. I recommend it to all. Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy share their story. Now these names may sound familiar to you and that's because they are the ones who adopted Michael Oher. (Perhaps you have seen the movie The Blindside. That movie is based off of the book with the same title.) Anyways, with the help of Sally Jenkins they share their story. It is pretty interesting and powerful. They give a lot of background information about their lives in the first few chapters. They also talk about their kids Collins, SJ, and Michael a lot throughout. They have a whole philosophy on giving. This is pretty interesting. They share their story on how they used to be poor and then became rich. They didn't just stop there; they give back to people which can mean a lot. It didn't matter how small or big that something was that they gave back, they did it cheerfully. Even when there were times when they barely had enough to get by on, they tried to give back.

Here are a few excerpts from the book... "So in this book we'd like to introduce our family properly, tell you how we saw events through our own eyes, and deliver our message in our own voices. It's a message about giving. We often say that our son Michael gave us much more than we gave him... We gave him a home... We gave him love... We gave him advice and support... Each thing we gave him has been returned to us multiplied." (page 4) "It pained us to realize that we too often failed at the simplest kind of giving. While we were waiting for a great cause, or focused on an agenda, we chose not to notice someone standing right in front of us... ...We agreed that be embracing a smaller and more cheerful kind of giving, we might ease a lot of everyday problems. I wish that I had written down some points that I liked when I was reading the book. That would have made it easier to share things here, oh well...One part that also stood out in the book was when they referenced a man by the name of Reed Sandridge. He was laid off from work a while back, but still decided to give to others. He started something called year of giving where each day he gives $10 to someone. He decided to do this all year long. I thought it was cool because he started a blog about it. Each day is a new blog entry. (Today was day 210.) He doesn't necessarily just throw the money at them and walk away, he talks to them and they can share their stories with him. I just started reading the blog today. Haven't read too much yet but I think it will interesting to read more of people's stories.

I can think of some stories of giving from people that I know as well. One example is Munca who got involved with some of the homeless in Florida. He brings them stuff and visits, them and other things. He has told some stories before about his experiences. Another person I can think of who has given is my mom's cousin Lisa. Her son Douglas is on a basketball team and a lot of the other kids on it don't have a lot. She gives them rides places and feeds them and stuff. So the little things can mean a lot too.

I want to be able to make a difference and give to others. I don't know where to start though. It's hard for me to go out of my comfort zone. How do you go up to a total stranger and give them something? Or even more simply just listen to their story. We all have stories to tell. Not everyone has someone to tell them to.

Recap of the last few days

It has been awhile since I have written on here. I posted a video on for video Monday, but that doesn't really count writing wise since I wrote like a couple of sentences. So what have I been up to lately and why haven't I been writing on here? Good question, but the answer is pretty boring and is not a whole lot. I am trying to think of something exciting that happened...

Saturday night I met Cat and Emily at Emily's house and we went to the mall to hang out for awhile, where we met up with Brooke. That was fun. After the mall we went to Burger King. Then we went to the movies, where we saw Eclipse. I was the only one who hadn't seen the movie yet. It was pretty good, sort of long. You could tell more so some of the people who hadn't seen it were the ones who laughed at all the parts you were supposed to laugh at. We sat in the back row. Which was good because then we could wiggle around in seats and not worry about bothering the people behind us. So overall the night was a lot of fun. It's nice to be able to hang out with friends and have a good time.

On Sunday, I went with the family to the lake. (Located in Greenfield.)That was pretty fun. We left around 9:30 and got there a little after 10. We got our spot because we arrived relatively early.(Yes, we have gone there enough by now that we have a favorite spot.) It was good fun. Dad, Spencer, and Sage were able to toss around the football for a little while, while mom and I sat and watched. Later on we had lunch, which was subs, soda, and chips. Then after lunch they all went swimming. Which I didn't do for certain reasons. Then they tossed the football around in the water. I participated some as well. Not too much though since I couldn't go too far out without getting wet from everything. I still ended up getting wet though but it was still fun. I just hope that next time we go I will be able to swim and everything. Later on Sunday we decided to watch The Dark Knight. (Which we own on dvd but never really watched... aside from the fact that I saw it in theaters twice. It was still a good movie. I forgot how long it is. Heath Ledger does a great job as the joker.

Let's see, nothing too exciting happened on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Those have pretty much been lazy days. One thing that I have done a lot of lately is play The Sims 3. I was all excited when it came out a little over a year ago. When I first got, it I played for awhile and then stopped for months on end. So recently, I think it was Monday or Tuesday, I started playing again and got really in to it. This is good because it gives me something to do. It's funny how time goes by so fast in the game. The sims days can go by in what would probably only be like an hour or so in our time. (It would also depend on what speed you put everything to happen on.)One of the sims 3 families I created ended up having 6 kids. That family has turned into quite a handful. Another family I recently made consisted of a young adult who I wanted to be in the music industry and she is now a rockstar! She got married a little while before that to a nice guy. They now have a kid. (Note to self when making a sim with purple hair, figure in to it that future offspring may also have purple hair.) But anyways, here I am going on like these "people" actually exist.

It's funny though how in some ways the sims is easier than to real life. For example, after you create a sim and move them into a house, they already have 20,000 simoleons. If only life was like that where when you first started out, you earned free money. There is also cheats in the sims. One of the most popular is the cheat for money.

Another thing that I did on Wednesday was parallel parking. My dad set up something up in our driveway. So for a little bit yesterday, he taught me how to parallel park. It will definitely help me in the long run because then I can get closer to getting my license, speaking of which I should probably start studying the driver's manual soon... That way I don't cram it all in last minute.

Today I don't know what I am going to do. I will probably spend some more time practicing parallel parking. I might play the sims 3 some more. Also I might catch up on some of my shows online or read a book. There is a possibility that I might hang out with some friends later tonight or perhaps tomorrow. So that will be something to look forward to.


So here's one of the families from the sims 3. Notice that the mom and toddler have matching purple hair... Not something I planned. When I had her age age up from baby to toddler, the purple hair appeared. So now she's stuck with it. The mother's (Jenna)outfit is a bit too revealing. This is the outfit she wears now that she is a rockstar. Not something I picked... The only normal one in the family seems to be Stiles (the dad).

Recap of trip to Maine

So I haven't posted anything on my blog in a couple days. The last post was from Thursday. The trip to Maine was good. Emily and I went up to visit Andy. He is working at a summer camp in Maine for a good part of the summer. (I found out from him that it costs $10,000 to send your kid there for seven weeks. Wow, that's really expensive.) We headed up there in the early evening. It took less time to get to Portland Maine than we had expected, so that was good.

We stayed at a Comfort Inn. Which we weren't even aware of until we got to it. (Since Andy hadn't informed as of the name of it.) It was all good though because there was a Chili's right next door. So close that we could walk there. After checking in and bringing our stuff to the room, we went next door to Chili's. Chili's was good. I got boneless buffalo wings. We split dessert. One thing that I do think was sort of funny about going out to eat there was when we got our bill. Emily and I had ordered the same things and yet my bill was a penny more than hers. I am not quite sure how that worked out. Maybe it had something to do with tax?

Then we left and decided to go make a quick trip to Hannafords. It was only a couple of minutes away from the motel. It was nice how close together everything was. Then we got back to the motel and hung out there for the night. Where we went on Facebook, watched tv, played Mad Libs, hung out, etc.

The next day we got up packed our stuff, had breakfast, and checked out. Our next destination was Freeport. There was a chance that we might go to the beach, but then we decided not to. Plus Andy wanted to show us around Freeport. We ended up spending a good part of the morning and early afternoon there. It was a cool place. With lots of shops all around most of which were outlets. It was fun to just go walk around and look in stores.

We had lunch at some old tavern place in the area. That was pretty good. I was determined to go to a beading store that I had seen on the map. We made it there eventually. I didn't end up buying anything there. The problem was I really didn't know what I wanted to make or anything. After walking around some more, we ended up leaving Freeport and going back to the motel.

We had all gone together in Andy's jeep and so on the way back he took the top off and everything. So it was extremely windy. But it was still very fun. Cruising down the highway with the tunes blasting and wind blowing in our hair, ahh what fun. Shortly after we got back to the motel, we left to go home.

Overall, the trip was a lot of fun. I was glad that it was able to work out. I wish that I had taken more pictures, oh well it is what it is.

Finally Thursday!!

So it is finally Thursday!! The day that I have been waiting for. Emily and I are heading to Maine in a little while. We are going to go up and meet Andy, who has been working at a summer camp. We are going to stay over night at a hotel and hang out. Tomorrow will be fun too because we might go to the beach while we're up there. It will be nice to hang out with both of them. I haven't seen Andy in a really long time.

It will be nice to get away, even if it's just for a day. I need to remember to take my camera and take pictures. Oh, and videos are always fun too. That way I can eventually make another slideshow in like 5 years. Plus it's just nice to be able to take lots of pictures of all the fun times. That way you can look back on them and smile.

The place is somewhere in Portland. I am not sure of the name. No one told me, but Emily has the address so all is good. The cost for staying there for one night is only $109. So that's not too bad. About $36 a piece. Plus it has a pool and hot tub.

I'm sure it will be fun. So I am going to go pack now. Which shouldn't take long since it's only for like a day.

Procrastination- Enough is enough already!

There are so many things that I have put of doing in my life. The biggest would have to be getting my license. I still don’t have my license and I’m already 19 years old. Most teens get their licenses right away. You could say that it’s the highlight of turning 16. In a way it represents being free. When you have a license you can go places when you want and it’s up to you. (Well you need a car to do that too, but you know what I mean.)

No more having to rely on other people to get you from point a to point b. I am still stuck having to rely on other people. It makes me feel bad sometimes to have to ask them. But when you don’t have your license there isn’t much that can be done. It’s even worse having to rely on my parents for rides. They don’t always feel like taking me places either. And who can blame them that can get annoying pretty quick. There have been times when people have asked me if I had gotten my license yet. I hate having to tell them that no, I do not have it yet.

In the beginning when I put off getting it, my parents were all oh it’s our fault too. But honestly, it’s not their fault. It’s my fault and that’s something that I need to get over. My mother will say from time to time that I should be begging her to let me drive. (What kind of teenager am I?) There were times when she had to beg me to drive. That is how out of hand it has gotten. Other times I would downright refuse. Which one could say doesn’t make that much sense since I should be begging to get in the driving.

I did attempt to get my license once a few summers ago. I think it was the summer that I was going into 12th grade. I was by no means prepared to go in and do the actual driving part.(I passed the written part.) I was extremely nervous and did not do many things well enough. One big thing is parallel parking. Oh man, I could not do that if my life depended on it.

There have even been times recently when I refused to drive. This is silly because some of the times that that happened had been areas that I was familiar with. Why? I am an okay driver, don’t get me wrong. I just seem to be lacking all of the confidence that I need. Plus, I still need to work on some areas.

My goal for myself is to go in and get my license at the end of the month. I am going to try to drive every chance I get. This is something that needs to get done. It has been something that has been holding me back far too long. I want to be able to drive myself places. (Plus I need to in order to continue college in the fall.) To finally have the freedom that comes with that. And to let go of the things that have been holding me back.

Short Story

This was one of the creative writing prompts on the website. The guidelines basically were to write a mini story (300 words or less) using the following words: paper clips, principal, lunchbox, swing, and a girl with a pink ribbon. My story is more than 300 words but less than 400.


The principal kept herself busy in her office. She had been in such a hurry to get to school on time that she had forgotten to open the letter from her mom. Remembering now, she went to her purse and grabbed the card. Once settled back at her desk, she opened it. She was surprised to find a picture on top of the letter. It had been attached by two paper clips but now lay there freely. She picked up the picture and stared at it closely. It was a picture of a girl with a pink ribbon in her hair and a pink dress sitting on a swing with two people kneeling on each side of her. She could remember that day clearly in her head…

The girl dashed out of the car as soon as it was in park. They were finally here, she thought. The park was her favorite place in the whole world. She ran over to the nearest swing on the swing-set, threw her lunchbox on the ground and got on the swing. “Mommy, daddy, come push me on the swing,” she yelled.

They were taking their time to walk over to her, hand in hand. Once they reached her, they took turns pushing her on the swing. She felt some happy to be here with them and enjoy the beautiful day. “Let me get a picture,” her dad said. He took out his camera. A stranger just happened to be walking by and told them he would take the picture so the three of them could be in it. The parents both knelt down and posed with their daughter. “Cheese,” they cried as the picture was taken.

The principal jumped when she was brought back to reality by the bell signaling the end of the school day. She wiped away a tear that she had not even known had been shed. She smiled. Ah to have been young and care free, those were the days, she thought. She sighed and slipped on her coat, tucking the picture in her back pocket. She was off to meet her husband and daughter for dinner in the park. She hopped her daughter would have as good of a childhood as she had.

It Finally Happened...

So folks, the day had finally come... Nika missed a day of writing on her blog. It was bound to happen sooner than later. That's okay though because no one is perfect. It would have been nearly impossible to write everyday for a year. I contemplated writing yesterday and then decided not to. I got distracted with looking up music and stuff for my best-friend.

Let's see, what did I do yesterday? I went to Massachusetts with Meana, Munca, and mom for a good part of the day. That wasn't too exciting, but it got me out of the house. We got home around 7:30 that night.

Then shortly after, Emily came over to hang out. We attempted to make friendship bracelets but it was too complicated and so we gave up. Then we got bored so we went to Barnes and Noble for awhile. When we were there we talked and gathered books to skim through while we sat at one of the little tables. (Barnes and Noble is a cool place to come and hang out. Plus they have the little cafe. It also has an advantage of being one of the few places in NH that is open after 9 PM.) After Barnes and Noble I went back home.

Today I got up early to go to the New Boston parade with my parents, Meana, and Munca. We met up with Bonnie, her kids, my cousin Chris, and my brothers. It was an okay parade. Surprisingly it seemed to last awhile. That gave us something to do. Then after the parade Meana and Munca left.

So now I am sitting here on the couch in the living room writing a blog that really is not too exciting... Just goes over the events from the yesterday and today.

It's such a nice day out. Even if it is like 90. I can't believe that it's going to be in the 90s at least until Friday... That's crazy. Of course that's summer for you. Hoping that I can go to the beach or lake again this week because it definitely is the perfect weather for it.

Very Short Post

Today was an okay day. Mom, Meana, and I went to the mall. I looked all over for a dress for Shannon and Tim's wedding. I finally found one at Forever 21. Which was funny because that was one of the last stores we went into. So glad that I finally found one.

Would write more but it's getting really close to midnight... I almost was going to skip today's post all together, but then decided against it. I am too tried.

Mad Libs

I am at a lose for what to write about. I found a website that does Mad Libs and so I will just post the one I did. (the words in bold are the ones I picked)

"Today is the day!", Danika shouted as she smiled out of her bed and ran downstairs. Mother had already fixed her a new breakfast of eggs and pizza, which Danika quickly gulped down. "Slow down before you ran, Sweetie", Mother admonished. "But we have to hurry. He might be gone by now!" Danika mumbled between mouthfuls.

After singing her teeth, Danika got into the van with mother and they drove down the road, headed for Central street downtown. On and on they drove through farmlands and along hillsides until they reached the warm town of Manchester. Danika watched the men walking by along the sidewalk and hummed to herself to pass the time. Finally they reached Central street.

Pulling up to the pet store, Danika unbuckled her cat and bolted out of the van door and into the store. Passing by the kitties, dogs, hampsters, goldfish, and horses, Danika eventually stopped at a cage near the back of the store. She turned to the store manager, who had followed her down the aisle, and gave him a old smile. He smiled back with a nod and Danika went up to the cage and took off the top, reaching in. When Danika turned around, her mother was standing there next to the manager dancing at her as well. In her hands Danika said the most beautiful, purple, new bunny you ever saw. "I will name him Sherman", she exclaimed outside as she kissed him between the ears. Sherman worked his nose in bunny agreement.

After buying the cage, rabbit food, hay, alfalfa, and a little bag of bunny treats, the smelly trio settled down in mother's van and headed off down the road towards home.


I also found a website that offers creative writing prompts... Just for the fun of it. For example, one said "Write from the point of view of a freshly scrubbed floor." They are all pretty random. Day #15

Today is my 15th day of writing on my blog. So far I have not missed any days. I will probably miss a few days eventually, since it would be pretty hard to not miss any.

It is weird to think that tomorrow is the first day of July... Where did all the time go? I still have some things that I have to get done that I have been putting off. Including some stuff for college. I really need to get that stuff done.

Let's see what did I do today? I went shopping with mom and meana. We were gone for six hours. We went to a lot of different places including Savers, Walmart, Mother & Child, Wendy's and Dunkin Donuts. I am still on the hunt for something to wear to Tim & Shannon's wedding.

Later in the evening we played Scattergories which is an awesome game... There were many laughs had by all. It's funny how much noise just 6 people playing can make. It's nice to be able to hang out with the family. Then Meana and I watched America's Got Talent... Those were pretty much the highlights of my day.

I am off to start working on some hemp projects... Finally got some hemp! Will post pictures when I am done.

Beach Day, etc.

So today was a nice day. Meana and Munca arrived this afternoon all the way from Florida. It's nice that they are here and that I can spend some time with them.

Later in the afternoon, I went to the ocean with Emily and her mom. That was a fun way to spend the afternoon. Eric (Emily's boyfriend) ended up meeting us there too. It was definitely a good beach day. It was hot at times but not too bad. A good part of the time was spent searching for sand dollars. Unfortunately, we did not find any. The water was freezing... After awhile though, it wasn't too bad. We did not swim in it. Just waded in and let the waves splash against us. (How are people able to go swimming when the water is so cold? I am too much of a chicken for an intense thing like that.) It's always fun to write stuff in the sand too. We did that some. Then it became like a competition though and we would try to see who could write their words in the sand the biggest. It was also fun to walk along the water.

A huge plus was that it wasn't as crowded as Hampton. So nice to not feel like everywhere you went there was a sea of people. Which can get quite annoying because you always feel like you are going to step on them. I would probably pick Wallis Sands any day over Hampton. But then I am not so sure in a way... Since Hampton has the board walk and other stuff to do. So I guess it would all depend on what you were in the mood for that day. If you want "hustle and bustle", then pick Hampton, if you are in the mood for relaxing and less crowds, then Wallis is the place to go. I suppose I can just alternate between the two of them... I think it would be cool to rent a house on the beach. It would be fun to just pack everything that would be needed and spend the day hanging out on the beach.

It's weird in a way, I got out of school over a month ago and yet I am just starting to do summer like things. I went to both the lake and the beach last week. Then the beach again today. It's nice to be out of school and just be able to enjoy things. Although there are days that can be boring at times.

Tomorrow should be fun. My mom, Meana, and I are going to Savers. That should be a good time. Hopefully we can all find some good stuff. One thing I am looking for in particular is a dress for S & T's wedding. Which is only a month a way. Seems like it's going to be a lot of fun. I haven't been to a wedding in awhile.

So this is the end of the post. I suppose that I will go to bed a bit early tonight, since I have to get up earlier than I usually do. It's 11:52 PM which is still early for me. I usually go to bed between the hours of 1 and 4.

Music Video Mondays Week 2- "For Those Who Wait"

For Those Who Wait- Fireflight. Good Christian band. I saw them at Soulfest last year. They are going to be there again this year!! This song is off of their newest album.

Button Necklace

I started this yesterday and for the most part finished it today. (There are still a few places I have to go back and tighten so it doesn't come apart.)

The five beads in the center had to get holes drilled into them, so I had my dad do that.


It was a pretty easy project. Making the loops on the ends of the eye pins took awhile. My mom helped me a little with that part.


I realize that some of the beads are more of a cream color. Eventually I might go back and replace those with a more white buttons.


This is what inspired me to make this necklace. I really like the colors in this one. I either found this on Etsy (love that website) or google images. Sometime in the future I will probably make a colorful one as well.

A Glimpse Into the Lives of Strangers

Those of you out there that have blogs, may have noticed that when you are on your blog, there is a button at the top where it says next blog. Have you ever clicked on that button before? I did this a few days ago. It was interesting how to took me to random blogs of people that I did not know.

I spent a awhile just looking at all the titles that people had given their blogs. Some I found were really unique and I thought that I would share them. (Now mind you, I am not stalking these bloggers or anything. It's just fascinating to see the layouts and everything they choose.) Also I noticed that on a lot of the blogs I came across the url and titles were different. So these people can still have some privacy from the world.

So here is a list of some titles of blogs that I liked:

I really liked the last one in particular very original and interesting explanation. It is just amazing how many people have blogs. In a way, it's like their own little world that they themselves create. They get to express their ideas, thoughts, feelings, etc. There can be power in that because the choices are endless. I think it's also cool how different blogs are in comparison from one to the next. It is interesting to see what layouts are used and everything. I even came across some that were written in different languages.

So if any of my blog readers ever have a few minutes to kill, why not try seeing what random blogs are on the next blog button? You never know what you are going to find.

Beach Day

Today was a good day. I went to the beach with Mike, Chris, Emily, and Eric. That was a lot of fun. We all ended up getting sunburned and that was not fun. After the beach, we went to Mike and Chris's house for cookies and pizza. Then we watched tv.

Tomorrow I am going to my cousin's bridal shower. That should be fun. I would write more but I am going to bed soon and there is only 4 minutes until midnight. So this will have to be the end for today... Short and too the point.

Social Networking Sites/Internet- Past, Present, and Future

What was life like before Facebook? Or any social networking sites, for that matter. They have definitely changed the way people keep in touch with others. It makes me wonder how much longer Facebook will be popular. Will it just be a gradual change or will it happen right away? Keep in mind Myspace used to be really popular back in the day. Now I do not know that many people who go on their account on a regular basis. I"ll admit, I still have a myspace but I hardly ever go on it. When I do, I go on for like a few minutes. I tried deleting my account once, but it was too much of a pain so I just kept it.

This brings me to another point. How many websites and stuff do you think people have just "floating around" in cyberspace? I for one, have a couple of old blogs, one of which I found like a week ago. It's weird to me how stuff can be online for what seems like forever. I also used to make accounts on different websites, some of which after I made the account on I don't think I've been back to since.

Back to Facebook... I spend some much time on Facebook each week. It is probably not a good thing. lol. When there's nothing else to do, it's like I'll go on Facebook to see what my friends are up to. I realized awhile back that if I actually deleted all the people I never see or even talk to, then I would not have a lot of friends left on Facebook. I mean I found some people I used to go to elementary school back when I lived in Milford. (That's going back to 4th grade.)

Anyway, it will definitely be interesting to see what social networking sites will be like in the future. Especially Facebook, will it still be here in 5 years? Or is something going to come along and become the next greatest thing? What will the internet and everything be like for future generations?

New Look

As you can see, I changed my blog layout. I found a pretty good website that had a lot of layouts to chose from. This was one of the ones that I liked, so for now it will stay.

First Lake Trip of the Summer

Today was a pretty good day. I met Emily at her house because we had made plans to spend the afternoon at the lake. We ended up going to Walmart for awhile and had lunch at Subway.

By the time we got to the lake, it was three in the afternoon. When we were there, we listened to music, ate snacks, played a card game as well as Jenga. We also went in the water for a little while. It wasn't an extremely hot summer day, but it was nice to go to the lake and relax. Eric met up with us after he got out of work. Unfortunately, it started to rain shortly after he got there. So we went in the water for a little while and then left.

Then we hung out at Em's house for a little while, followed by Applebees for dinner and dessert. Fun was had by all. I am glad that it worked for us to hang out. After that, I went home and watched America's Got Talent. That leads up to where I am now.

Music Video Mondays- "The Impossible"

I have decided that Mondays are now going to be "Music Video Mondays". So each Monday I will post a music video. Sounds simple enough, right? :)

Today's music video is, "The Impossible" by Joe Nichols. I love when songs tell stories. Country songs seem to do this a lot. They really can have such an impact. This probably is one of my favorite country songs of all time. I love that part that says "cause there's no such thing as hopeless if you believe." The song is all about believing in the impossible and not giving up.

Light the Night Walk

So I recently discovered this event when I was online the other day. It is called Light the Night Walk. It is put on by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Basically the event is a three mile walk at night. The people who sign up for the event and raise at least $100 are the ones who are allowed to participate in the walk. Each "walker" receives a balloon. What is unique about these balloons are that they light up. There are three different color balloons: white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer.

I think that this is a really cool idea. There is one taking place in New Hampshire in September. (In Nashua on September 25th.) My mom and I are going to take part in it. We still have to register and create a team. If anyone is interested in joining our team, let me know. If we sign up soon we still have a few months to raise $100 per person. Cutting it close...

Today was a good day. In the morning I went to yard sales with my mom. We ended up stopping at quite a few, but did not find anything too exciting.

In the afternoon I went to Emily's house. Which was nice because I had not hung out with her for awhile. She made me chili and we hung out and stuff. Then we went to Brooke's house to go swimming and Cat and other people were there.

After we hung out at Brooke's we went to the mall for an hour. Why does the mall close so early? There is like nothing to do after 9:00 on a Saturday night... Besides going out to eat. So it was decided that we hit up Burger King. It was nice to get to hang out with the three of them because we haven't all hung out in awhile. We are always able to have a good time. If only Erin had been there then it would have been complete.

After Burger King, Emily came over. We just hung out and watched videos on youtube, talked, and took pictures on my computer. It was still fun though. Don't get me wrong. I am always able to have fun with my best friend. We can always make each other laugh. We also watched a bunch of videos that I had on my computer from back in the day. These videos definitely captured many good times. There will be more good times in the future I am sure.

It is almost midnight, so I have to get this posted quick. Otherwise I will have missed a day of posting. So now I am off to go on Facebook for a bit, then read or watch a movie... Who knows. Good night. I will leave with a few pictures from our random photo shoot.
